60ºNorth proposes a series of interventions that work with what already exists, acknowledging the site’s specific characteristics: ecology, inhabitants, heritage, materials, and existing structures. Various activities and productive processes are proposed as opportunities for interaction among the actors involved in the food production chain —from farmers to researchers, distributors, and consumers. The open space creates fertile and productive continuities that connect urban and rural areas at both local and metropolitan scales.

60ºNorth reflects on the current model of peri-urban development and addresses the future challenges of food production through the implementation of scenarios in harmony with and respectful of the environment. We propose a slow and respectful architectural intervention, enhancing and rehabilitating the existing buildings, network of paths, and topography.

Five main interventions activate the site: an agricultural research center to adapt to future production needs, a cooperative in the existing farm, the Miljo as a structure for community cohesion, a hedonistic lakeshore with minimal footprint, and the continuation of open space to promote a diversity of activities.
